The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on August 14, 2026, issued a notification regarding the revision of Tariff Values.
The following has been stated: -
•CBIC has amended Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.) under Section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962 by revising the tariff values for specified imported goods.
•Revised values include crude/RBD palm oil, palmolein, crude soybean oil and brass scrap, with values specified in US dollars per metric tonne.
•Tariff values for gold and silver have also been revised to US$ 1,407 per 10 grams for gold and US$ 2,097 per kg for silver.
•The notification also specifies tariff treatment and values for different categories of gold bars, gold coins, silver articles and related forms.
•The tariff value for areca nuts has been fixed at US$ 11,574 per metric tonne under Table 3.
This notification shall come into force with effect from August 15, 2026.
